Jangipur Police District is the newest police district of the state of West Bengal created by bifurcating the erstwhile Murshidabad District. The district started functioning from January 1, 2020. The district comprises of 5 police stations and a women police station. The headquarters of the district is at Jangipur town.

       The district falls in the Rarh physiographic region of the Murshidabad district.The land is slightly higher in altitude than the surrounding plains and is undulating. It borders Malda district to the north, Jharkhand's Sahebganj district and Pakur district to the north-west and Birbhum to the west. The international border with Bangladesh's Rajshahi division is on the east. The police district covers an area of 1097.82 sq.km and according to the 2011 census, has a population of 19,72,308.
